Position: DevOps Engineer (Senior

Cimarron is seeking a senior-level Dev Ops Engineer to support the Axiom Space Commercial Space Station and Space Suite software programs in Houston, TX.

This is a senior‑level, hands‑on architecture role responsible for defining, modernizing, and scaling cloud‑native Dev Ops infrastructure supporting commercial human spaceflight systems. The selected candidate will serve as a technical authority and strategic advisor across development, operations, and systems engineering teams.

Although this opportunity is supporting a 6 to 12‑month contract, this position is a full‑time/benefited (i.e., PTO, 401(k), insurance) position with Cimarron.

Key Duties
  • Architect and lead the modernization of cloud infrastructure supporting a live, mission‑critical environment.
  • Define and implement scalable, secure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks using Terraform and related automation tools.
  • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration strategies, and Dev Sec Ops  best practices.
  • Provide architectural oversight for Kubernetes‑based container platforms and distributed systems.
  • Lead cloud strategy across AWS and/or GCP environments, including networking, IAM, security controls, and high‑availability architectures.
  • Standardize Dev Ops processes, automation frameworks, and governance models to improve reliability and deployment velocity.
  • Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership across cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Develop high‑level architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, and executive‑level briefings.
  • Operate within a Linux‑based development environment and support Agile Scrum execution.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain an Active Secret Clearance in a reasonable timeframe, if required.
  • Ability to complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening, including testing for marijuana use.
  • 15 or more years of progressive experience in Dev Ops.
  • Extensive experience architecting and implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Deep expertise with AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms in production enterprise environments.
  • Advanced experience designing and managing Kubernetes clusters and containerized environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Docker and container lifecycle management.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Linux systems administration and shell scripting (Bash).
  • Extensive experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong command‑line Git experience and source control strategy design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Experience leading Dev Sec Ops  initiatives in regulated or mission‑critical environments.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or safety‑critical systems.
  • Strong Python scripting or automation development experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with software development standards such as DO‑178C.
  • Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/UDP) and secure cloud networking architectures.
  • Experience integrating Dev Ops within MBSE‑driven or highly documented engineering environments.
