This Skill Bridge internship is only open to currently serving active-duty U.S. military members who are projected to separate or retire within the authorized Skill Bridge window (typically within the next 12 months). Command approval and Skill Bridge authorization must be secured before the internship start date. This is not a civilian or student internship. Applicants must be Active-Duty U.S. military personnel eligible for DoD Skill Bridge participation. Overview:
Aegis Aerospace, Inc. is seeking motivated and technically experienced service members transitioning from active duty to join our team as DoD Skill Bridge interns supporting the Department of Defense Space Test Program (DHSTO). Candidates must already possess a solid technical foundation and at least four years of hands-on experience in information technology, cybersecurity, system administration, or a related technical discipline.

This internship is not intended for beginners or those new to IT or cyber fields. This internship provides hands-on experience in cybersecurity, information systems, and network administration disciplines directly supporting DHSTO's mission. Interns will work onsite at Aegis Aerospace's Webster, TX facility, gaining real-world technical and analytical experience that bridges their transition to civilian careers in cybersecurity, system operations, and cloud technologies.

Preferred Experience Areas:
Networking, System Administration, Cloud Security, Threat Detection and Incident Response, and Information Assurance. Description of Duties:
The selected intern will work alongside experienced engineers and information security professionals supporting DoD and NASA-related operations. The role offers immersive exposure to modern information system environments, technical mentorship, and advanced skill development in cybersecurity and IT system management. The intern will:
* Work within the DHSTO Information Systems team supporting secure network and system operations
* Assist in network configuration, management, and security hardening
* Participate in vulnerability assessments, patching, and incident response efforts
* Support compliance initiatives aligned with DoD cybersecurity frameworks and 8140 proficiency standards
* Gain exposure to cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SIEM tools such as Splunk
* Assist with developing and maintaining security documentation, reports, and risk analyses
* Apply analytical reasoning, communication, and adaptability in a mission-critical environment

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be a current active-duty U.S. service member within 365-180 days of separation or retirement
* Must meet all eligibility requirements of the DoD Skill Bridge program and obtain command approval prior to start date
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* At least four years of experience in cybersecurity, information technology, system administration, or a related technical field
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with an ethical and mission-focused mindset Desired
