We are seeking a motivated and talented OSS Engineer to join our team. This entry-level role requires a solid foundation in Windows and Linux server installation, configuration, and administration. The ideal candidate will work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and demonstrate strong technical aptitude through relevant experience, projects, and assessments.
Essential Functions- Lead the deployment, administration, and optimization OSS platforms, including monitoring, provisioning, incident management, and service assurance systems.
- Architect, design, and implement system enhancements, integrations, and automation workflows that support operational excellence.
- Manage and maintain enterprise‑grade Windows and Linux server environments, including configuration, tuning, patching, and security hardening.
- Oversee system monitoring, proactively identify issues, and lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) for complex problems across OSS and network systems.
- Develop automation scripts (Power Shell, Bash, Python/Perl) to improve reliability, reduce manual tasks, and streamline system workflows.
- Manage lifecycle updates, system upgrades, hardware provisioning, and software deployments for OSS infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and resiliency through redundancy planning, load balancing, and failover strategies.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering, NOC, Field Operations, and leadership to support cross‑functional operational initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including system architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Serve as an escalation point for high‑level OSS, monitoring, and server/system issues.
- Support compliance, cybersecurity requirements, and audit‑related activities across OSS platforms.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on monitoring capabilities, automation, system reliability, and operational visibility.
Education and Experience requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field; or an Associate degree with equivalent industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education, relevant certifications, and hands‑on technical experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience administering and supporting Windows and Linux server environments in an enterprise or environment.
- Strong understanding of OSS platforms, network monitoring systems, and service assurance tools (e.g., Solar Winds, Observium, Zabbix, etc.).
- Advanced scripting and automation experience using Power Shell, Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Hands‑on experience with backend database systems (Postgre
SQL, MS SQL) and basic SQL query skills. - Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, system security hardening, and server lifecycle management.
- Experience with Dell and HP enterprise server hardware, including firmware and system management tools.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V) and virtual infrastructure administration.
- Ability to perform root‑cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshoot complex cross‑platform system issues.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, integrations, APIs, and data flows within OSS ecosystems.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal direction and lead initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
