IT Support, Systems Administrator
Position Overview
Directs the Information Technology Support unit that provides support services to a college in the areas of planning, development, administration, training, software and hardware, web services, and centralized technical support. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure.
The position requires personnel to be routinely reviewed to determine whether a criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from maintaining the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
- Ability to assume overall management and support of College IT programs including research, teaching, and Health Information Management systems, including implementation planning and maintenance.
- Microsoft Office Products experience.
- Previous experience conducting unit risk assessments, risk analysis, and security threat responses.
- Knowledge and experience with Health IT compliance and applicable federal and state laws, especially the HIPAA Security Rules.
- Ability to comprehend workflow and integration of electronic applications into the current hybrid environment.
- Education requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge; experience requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
- Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of project management functions and techniques, utilizing project management skills and identifying task dependencies and critical paths.
- Understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, integration, and databases; experience with utilities and software and hardware set-up and install practices.
- Basic understanding of database design and data management concepts and models; basic understanding of XML and SQL; programming skills preferred.
- Experience working with remote employee setups and environments helpful.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills used for both implementation and support.
- Experience working closely with Health Information Management, campus IT, and vendors to maintain system(s) integrity and performance.
- Knowledge and experience in state and federal information security laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, including NIST, PCI and other applicable regulations.
- Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
