About the Role

The Trading Data Analytics discipline within a global Trading Analytics & Insights organization brings together Quantitative Analysts, Data Strategists, and Core Strategists (Software Engineers). United by data, numerical algorithms, and technology, the team delivers new models, actionable insights, and scalable analytical solutions that drive commercial outcomes in fast paced trading environments.

As a Fundamental Modeling Analyst, you will work closely with the Gas and Power Trading Americas Fundamental Modelling and Innovation Team, collaborating with analysts and strategists across North America and multiple commodity lines. This role offers the opportunity to design and build data driven, scalable solutions to business critical problems in a data rich, dynamic trading setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement machine learning and regression models to support trading and commercial decision making.
  • Analyze and manipulate large, complex datasets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Partner closely with traders and business stakeholders to translate analytical outputs into commercially actionable strategies.
  • Design scalable analytical solutions that can be reused across regions and commodities.
  • Innovate and continuously improve analytical methodologies in response to evolving business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM or quantitative discipline.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with machine learning models and regression techniques.
  • Strong Python skills with a solid understanding of core data science libraries: pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn.
  • Proven experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with traders or business stakeholders.
  • Independent, creative thinker capable of finding alternative solutions to complex problems.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced trading environment.
Preferred Experience & Skills

Knowledge of US or North American energy markets, such as:
Natural gas, Power, LNG, Oil, Low carbon markets. Understanding of supply and demand fundamentals and how physical and related financial instruments are traded.
