Job Description

Primary

Purpose:

Evaluate, research, analyze, support, and assist in the development of computer system requirements that will provide solutions for the Cypress‑Fairbanks Information Services department, including but not limited to eFinance (ERP), eSchool

Plus (SIS), BI solutions, AI‑powered analytics, Power School, Laserfiche and any other systems supported by Cypress‑Fairbanks ISD.

Qualifications

Education/Degree(s):

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Information Systems.

Professional

Experience:

  • Preferred two (2) years’ experience with Texas K‑12 systems (Power School, eSchool

    Plus, eFinance

    Plus, Laserfiche) business processes and best practices.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems and system applications.
  • Knowledge of database management software and application development tools, SQL preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems, documentation, and technical assistance manuals.
  • Ability to detect and resolve problems in application software.
  • Strong understanding of leading‑edge technologies.
  • Proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience implementing AI‑powered systems.
  • Experience developing ETL processes and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud‑based solutions such as Cognos, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Critical‑thinking and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures.

$63,668 per year

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist with all phases of software development, including analysis, design, writing code, testing, and implementation.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of systems software to meet technical and user requirements.
  • Ensure developed software meets technical and user requirements.
  • Write code according to specifications to create effective and maintainable software.
  • Create, maintain, and update technical manuals and documentation for internally developed software.
  • Develop and run special reports and queries.
  • Identify application‑related problems and recommend solutions.
  • Assist users in completing major projects and jobs, including collection, editing, and reporting of data.
  • Provide programming‑related support for administrative applications including student, payroll, finance, and human resources systems.
  • Communicate with administrative and clerical personnel to determine processing needs, clarify requests, develop solutions, and provide technical assistance.
  • Update and maintain existing software and hardware systems to meet changing district needs.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Standard office equipment, including personal computers and peripherals.
  • Prolonged sitting; occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
  • Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, mouse use, occasional reaching.
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Frequent district‑wide travel and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Work after hours.
