Embedded Systems Architect / C, C++ / Onsite / Houston, TX
Our team is partnering with a global technology consulting organization to hire an Embedded Systems Architect who will lead the design and implementation of next-generation cloud-managed device platforms. This is a highly visible architecture role focused on secure device connectivity, embedded firmware, cloud integration, and large-scale device lifecycle management.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of embedded systems, networking, security, and cloud technologies while providing technical leadership across enterprise-scale IoT initiatives.
Contract Duration: 1 yr. Contract, potential to extend or convert
Required Skills & Experience- Strong experience developing embedded systems using C and/or C++
- Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or ThreadX
- Deep understanding of memory management, performance optimization, and real-time constraints
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP, and MQTT
- Experience designing and implementing cloud-connected device solutions
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience across firmware, networking, and integration layers
- Experience with Microsoft Azure IoT services, including Azure IoT Hub and Device Provisioning Service
- OTA firmware update implementation experience
- Opportunity to architect enterprise-scale IoT and connected device platforms
- High-impact role spanning embedded systems, cloud services, networking, and cybersecurity
- Lead end-to-end architecture for cloud-connected device platforms spanning firmware, networking, and cloud services
- Define embedded firmware architectures that enable secure, reliable, and scalable cloud connectivity
- Design device-to-cloud communication frameworks, provisioning strategies, and lifecycle management processes
- Architect secure onboarding, authentication, certificate management, and communication protocols for distributed device fleets
- Identify and mitigate technical risks across firmware, networking, cloud integration, and security domains
- Serve as the technical authority for embedded systems and device-cloud architecture decisions
