Summary: Assures that an acceptable level of network security is maintained throughout our clients network environments by providing network security consulting. Perform security reviews on a wide range of evolving network technologies and processes, and other related network security services. Collaborate with Security Architecture and Enterprise Architecture to understand requirements and follow security standards.
- Maintains/optimizes the clients firewall infrastructure, including Smart Grid and AMS, both on premise and in the cloud.
- Maintains/optimizes Network Segmentation environment and zones.
- Maintains/optimizes Client Remote access solutions.
- Maintains/optimizes PGP encryption, URL content filter, Firewall DLP environments.
- Advises departments on policies, regulatory compliance, and security best practices, providing training as required
- Serves as the subject matter expert for security best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Provides support and assistance during internal and external audits.
- Interfaces with technical vendors regarding security issues and recommend solutions.
- Develops network security standards.
- Ensures network security rules, standards, and architecture is adequate to safe guard the network.
- Ability to author technical documentation.
Education:
Requires a bachelor's degree in information technology or engineering from an accredited college or university. Commensurate combination of education, training and experience can be substituted.
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years experience working with the following:
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with network, OS, and application security.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs):
- CISSP (Certified Information Security System Professional) certification preferred. Commensurate Network or Security certifications a plus.
- Must have excellent technical skills in security software, appliances, operating system software, and networking.
- Ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks.
- Ability to deal collaboratively, diplomatically, and successfully with customers, co-workers and other professional colleagues, managers, and staff.
- Ability to quickly learn new procedures, techniques, approaches, etc.
- Knowledge of VPN technologies, URL filters, and PGP
- Understanding of all aspects of Information Technology and its impact on the security of network environments.
- Must have a high degree of "customer orientation" and "team focus"
- Must have excellent communications skills and be capable of effective presentations.
- Must have the ability to assume a "project leadership" role in a variety of security related projects.
- Knowledge of SOX, HIPAA and NERC regulations preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Must have the ability to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment. Must be able to bend and stoop.
- Able to sit and view a personal computer display for long periods of time.
Working Conditions:
- Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
- Able to travel to company locations outside assigned work location and attend or conduct training, industry or professional association conferences, and/or other meetings (with customers, vendors, contractors, communities, etc.) and stay overnight as required.
- Able to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
- Able to work irregular hours and overtime as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
- Able to work on an on call rotation and EOP duty.
