Job Overview

The IT Support Technician provides first-level technical support to employees while assisting with the management and lifecycle of the organization's technology assets. This entry-level position is responsible for maintaining accurate IT inventory records, supporting device deployment and recovery processes, and providing day-to-day technical assistance for computer hardware, software, mobile devices, and related technology systems. The position plays an important role in ensuring technology assets are properly tracked, maintained, and available to support business operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities IT Asset Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for computers, monitors, mobile devices, peripherals, and other technology assets.
  • Assist with the procurement, receiving, tagging, deployment, transfer, and retirement of IT equipment.
  • Track asset assignments and maintain asset management documentation and records.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile asset records.
  • Coordinate equipment collection and redeployment for employee onboarding, transfers, and offboarding activities.
  • Assist with technology lifecycle management, including equipment refresh and replacement programs.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposition of retired technology assets in accordance with company policies.
Technical Support
  • Respond to and resolve basic technical support requests submitted through the help desk, phone, email, or in person.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, mobile devices, and related peripheral equipment.
  • Assist users with hardware, software, connectivity, and account-related issues.
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts as directed.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and equipment replacements.
  • Support Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Document support activities, resolutions, and procedures in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex technical issues to senior IT staff.
  • Assist with conference room technology and audiovisual equipment as needed.
  • Participate in technology projects and other departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational and user information.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and inventory information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service to users with varying technical skill levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with inventory management, asset tracking, or technical support.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and basic networking concepts.
  • Experience using ticketing systems or asset management platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ are a plus.
