Technical Support Intern (Unpaid) – Universal Processing – Houston, TX
Are you ready to go uP? This internship provides on‑site technical support for a partner migration project. The role lasts approximately two months, or longer depending on project progress, and involves device handling, inventory tracking, and basic deployment support.
CompensationThis is an unpaid internship. The Technical Support Intern will work onsite between 20–25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in our Houston office. Lunch and transportation allowance will be provided.
Role SummaryThe Technical Support Intern will work fully onsite, five days a week, assisting with a partner migration project and learning key skills in payment device support and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities- Learn and understand the characteristics and use cases of common payment terminals and PIN pads (PAX, Dejavoo, Valor, etc.) to support inventory and deployment operations.
- Assist with large‑scale terminal reprogramming projects related to MID changes and account migrations.
- Support inventory management in the Houston office, including tracking device status, serial numbers, and movement.
- Become familiar with device‑related CRM and internal systems, and assist with simple deployment and replacement requests.
- Learn the basic operation and configuration of payment devices, and help with entry‑level troubleshooting tasks.
- Assist in processing merchant applications and entering client information into internal systems.
- Provide technical assistance for inbound questions related to terminal hardware under supervision.
- Help ensure deployment tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Must be authorized to work in the US at the time of hire (our employer uses E-Verify).
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin‑Chinese is required, both written and verbal.
- Must be currently pursuing or have graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in a STEM field.
- Strong ownership mindset with a proactive, can‑do attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn technical concepts.
- Able to take initiative and solve problems with guidance.
- Detail‑oriented and able to complete tasks before deadlines.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Word (tracking, documentation, basic reporting).
