Position: SAFe Release Train Engineer (Local to Houston, TX)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate all Agile Release Train (ART) events, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and other SAFe ceremonies.
  • Serve as the primary servant leader for the ART, fostering collaboration, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Coach Agile teams, Product Management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and stakeholders on SAFe principles, Lean-Agile practices, and Agile mindset adoption.
  • Drive cross‑team coordination and dependency management to ensure successful planning, execution, integration, and delivery of business value.
  • Identify, escalate, and facilitate resolution of risks, impediments, and blockers impacting program execution and delivery objectives.
  • Partner with business leaders, architects, engineering teams, and product stakeholders to align strategic priorities with execution plans and delivery outcomes.
  • Develop and leverage dashboards, reports, and metrics to communicate program health, predictability, capacity, flow, and delivery outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Monitor ART performance through key metrics and program reporting, leveraging data‑driven insights to improve predictability, quality, and flow.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence while promoting team self‑organization and empowerment.
  • Support organizational Agile transformation initiatives and contribute to the ongoing maturity of SAFe practices across the enterprise.
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives, technology roadmaps, and delivery commitments while maintaining focus on customer and stakeholder value.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) within a SAFe environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading Agile Release Trains consisting of multiple cross‑functional teams in large‑scale enterprise settings.
  • Deep understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean‑Agile principles, Agile methodologies, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with ART planning, backlog management, dependency tracking, PI Planning support, dashboard creation, reporting, and Agile metrics analysis.
  • Proven ability to improve transparency, predictability, and alignment across multiple Agile teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, conflict resolution, and servant leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across business, technology, architecture, and leadership teams.
  • Experience managing complex dependencies, risks, and delivery challenges across multiple teams and work streams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from development teams to executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while maintaining focus on delivery outcomes and team health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) Certification required.
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification strongly preferred.
  • Located in Houston, TX and able to work hybrid or on‑site full‑time (40hrs/week).
  • Additional Agile certifications such as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or PMP are a plus.
  • Experience supporting Agile transformations within large enterprises.
  • Experience configuring Rally dashboards, reporting structures, and ART‑level metrics to support portfolio and program‑level visibility.
