Senior Technical Support Engineer – Supply Chain Team
We are seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join our Supply Chain team, specializing in advanced technologies for production planning, scheduling, blending, and optimization. The ideal candidate should have a background in chemical engineering or optimization, with knowledge of linear and nonlinear programming, a proactive learning mindset, innovative thinking, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with customers to resolve technical issues, deliver expert guidance, and provide trainings on Aspen Tech solutions (e.g., Aspen PIMS, Scheduling & Blending Optimization, and Aspen Unified technology).
- Provide loyalty‑inspiring customer service that drives user engagement and sustains product usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and engineering problems reported by customers using Aspen Tech’s proprietary software and track work in a CRM system.
- Escalate customer issues and drive resolution cross‑functionally within Aspen Tech.
- Deliver high‑quality intermediate/advanced level training classes based on engineering and industrial processes.
- Develop and maintain customer‑focused training materials for new releases and applications.
- Conduct pre‑sales consultations to identify prospects’ business problems and articulate Aspen Tech solutions.
- Uncover and analyze client/prospect needs to support growth in usage.
- Build strong relationships with customers, understanding their business needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with other Aspen Tech functions to maintain and develop business opportunities.
- Act as subject‑matter expert in Aspen Tech’s pre‑release software testing program to improve product quality.
- Coach fellow team members to enhance technical skills.
- Conduct health checks on assigned accounts; deliver onsite support and consultancy.
- Deploy Aspen Tech solutions in customer environments; execute departmental improvement projects as needed.
- Author technical white papers for publication to Aspen Tech’s web knowledgebase.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience (University experience may count).
- Strong understanding of Chemical Engineering principles.
- Knowledge of chemical and manufacturing business processes in refining, chemical, pharmaceutical, or process industries.
- Work experience in such an environment is beneficial.
- Previous experience with Aspen Tech Supply Chain software (Aspen PIMS, Aspen Petroleum Scheduler, Plant Scheduler, Multi Blend Optimization, Unified PIMS/Scheduling) or similar advanced tools.
- Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer‑first mindset and ability to identify growth opportunities.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
- Travel up to 25% (occasionally international).
