The System Administrator II, Virtualization maintains the integrity of the virtualization environment, installs, configures, and maintains virtualized workstations and servers in support of processing requirements. The role provides extensive operations support, file restorations, backups, disk space management, and problem resolution for operating systems platforms. It also supplies new hardware specifications to customers, deploys new servers, and maintains the server infrastructure within a 24/7/365 global department.

• Must possess a working knowledge of server hardware technologies, including converged, hyperconverged, and composable infrastructure
• Ability to train in certain procedures or equipment may be required
• May require knowledge of the College's policies and procedures
• Ability to manage complex problems that must be broken down into manageable pieces, ability to see relationships between problem components and prioritizes them
• Ability to collaborate with team; shares relevant information with those who may be affected by decisions

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
• Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
• May regularly travel to different LSC locations
• May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations if necessary
• May need to work weekends and outside of core business hours if necessary

• Associate degree or higher and at least 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with VMware virtualization technologies or another equivalent enterprise virtualization stack

• Bachelor's degree
• Entry-level certifications:
  • VMware Certified Technical Associate
  • Dell Certified Associate, Information and Storage Management
  • Cohesity Certified Data Protection Associate
  • Microsoft Certified:
    Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • Any other similar related professional certification
