About the Role:
As an Azure Solutions Architect SME, you will be responsible for end-to-end service delivery across Microsoft Azure and supporting AWS environments, ensuring they are secure, resilient, and aligned to best-practice standards. You will architect and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using IaaS, PaaS, and serverless services, while serving as a senior escalation resource for complex technical issues. Your work will directly impact customer satisfaction, platform stability, and the continuous improvement of cloud operations and standards.
Position Summary:
This role sits on the SME team and is accountable for service delivery across public and private cloud environments, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure infrastructure services (compute, storage, networking, identity, and security) and secondary support within Amazon Web Services. You will drive standards, onboarding/offboarding, tool optimization, escalations, and proactive improvements that enhance reliability, security, and performance of customer environments.
Success in this position requires strong ownership, disciplined adherence to established standards, fact-based root cause analysis, and clear communication with internal teams and customer stakeholders to consistently demonstrate proof of value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement secure, scalable Azure infrastructure solutions using IaaS, PaaS, and serverless services aligned to organizational standards and customer outcomes.
- Maintain and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure to meet availability, performance, and uptime SLAs across multiple tenant organizations.
- Own monitoring, alerting, reporting, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, including actionable alert hygiene and meaningful operational dashboards.
- Lead high-severity incident response as a senior escalation point, driving timely resolution, customer communication, and post-incident reviews with root cause analysis.
- Implement Azure solutions using repeatable standards for naming, configuration baselines, security controls, and documentation to ensure long-term supportability.
- Conduct post-sales technical follow-ups, support onboarding and offboarding activities, and provide remote customer support for cloud, network, and security issues.
- Provide proactive recommendations and continuous improvement initiatives for customer Azure environments, staying current with platform changes and security advisories.
- Manage multiple projects and customer priorities, providing status updates, surfacing risks early, and meeting committed deadlines for deliverables.
Key Requirements:
- Strong, hands-on experience designing and implementing Azure infrastructure solutions across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security.
- Proven expertise in cloud solution design using Azure IaaS, PaaS, and serverless services in production, multi-tenant environments.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a senior technical escalation point for complex cloud incidents and performance issues.
- Solid track record in monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and operational dashboard design for Azure environments.
- Ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable technical architectures that align with established standards.
- Strong ownership mindset with disciplined adherence to processes, documentation, and service delivery commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating with customer stakeholders during escalations.
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage concurrent projects while maintaining quality.
- Experience supporting and integrating Amazon Web Services (AWS) alongside Azure in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., ARM/Bicep, Terraform, Power Shell, Azure CLI) for repeatable deployments.
- Exposure to cloud governance, cost optimization, and security best practices across enterprise-scale environments.
- Experience working within an SME or consulting practice, delivering post-sales technical engagements and ongoing managed services.
- Background in network and security troubleshooting related to cloud connectivity, firewalls, and identity management.
