Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced remote technical support for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems on gas compressor units and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot control panels, automation components, and communication systems, including Modbus RTU over RS 485 and Modbus TCP/IP
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and I/O maps to diagnose and resolve issues
- Support customers and field technicians through structured troubleshooting and corrective actions
- Partner closely with engineering and field teams on escalated or complex issues and contribute to long term solutions
- Document support cases clearly and accurately, including diagnostics, resolutions, and recommended follow up actions
- Identify recurring issues and trends and provide feedback to improve products, documentation, and support workflows
- Contribute to internal and customer facing technical documentation, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides
- Ensure all guidance aligns with safety standards, best practices, and company procedures
- Participation in an on call rotation is required to support customer operations outside standard business hours
- On call may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on a rotating schedule
- Timely response during on call periods is expected, with escalation support available
- On call stipend of $500 per week when assigned to the on call rotation
- 4-5 years of hands on experience supporting automation, electrical, instrumentation, or control systems in industrial or energy environments
- Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Instrumentation, Controls, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong working knowledge of automation systems used in gas compression or similar industrial applications
- Advanced troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Experience supporting PLC based systems and HMIs in a production environment
- Strong understanding of Modbus communications and common failure modes
- Ability to independently diagnose complex technical issues and guide others through resolution
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong documentation discipline and comfort working in ticketing and support systems
- Ability to prioritize multiple issues and remain calm in time sensitive situations
- Degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering Technology
- Experience supporting Murphy and Altronic PLC and annunciator systems
- Familiarity with compressor stations, RTUs, and upstream oil and gas operations
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured troubleshooting methods
- Exposure to instrumentation calibration and field diagnostics
- Prior experience in customer facing technical support or field service roles
- Multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are a plus for supporting diverse field teams
