Job Overview

Assistant Data Visualization Analyst – Temporary/Casual Staff (Fixed Term) at Texas A&M University, Houston, Texas. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is up to 40 hours per week for approximately 8‑10 weeks.

Responsibilities
  • Data Systems Support and Process Improvement – Establish ML pipelines for image segmentation and image analysis on the GPU cluster at EnMed (Pettigrew lab). Document pipeline implementation for use by EnMed students. Assist with data systems management and integration functions to maintain system performance. Support improvement efforts for existing data systems by reviewing capabilities, workflows, and schedule limitations. Collaborate in identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency within data processes and systems.
  • Data Analytics and Statistical Analysis – Assist in supporting operations and conducting data analytics projects to provide information and insights to stakeholders. Analyze small to moderately sized datasets using statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns. Apply basic data mining, data modeling, and natural language processing techniques to interpret data. Utilize routine data mining techniques to discover patterns and relationships that support business decisions.

    Assist in developing statistical models and algorithms to predict future trends, behavior, and outcomes based on historical data. Assist in designing and analyzing tests to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies or interventions.
  • Data Management and Quality Assurance – Gather data from basic sources to support analytical projects. Construct datasets for analysis and reporting purposes. Cleanse, filter, and preprocess routine data to remove inconsistencies, errors, and outliers. Implement data standards and deploy automation tools to extract, synthesize, validate, and transform data into usable metrics. Monitor data quality and security to maintain data integrity. Provide routine troubleshooting and resolve database issues to ensure reliable data access and performance.
  • Data Visualization and Manuscript – Create data visualizations, dashboards, and metrics to communicate analytical findings. Generate basic data reports and respond to routine information requests from stakeholders. Transform analytical results into clear and meaningful information to support decision making.
  • Professional Development and Technical Growth – Stay updated on current data analysis techniques, tools, and technologies to enhance analytical effectiveness. Continuously improve technical and analytical skills to support evolving operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
