ERP Technical Lead

Title: ERP Technical Lead

Job Summary

This position will function as a lead within the Texas Southern University’s ERP team responsible for the support and maintenance of the ERP system. They will support multiple technologies, including integrations with other systems as well as requiring excellent customer support skills. As a member of the OIT department this position strives to ensure consistency in communications, actions, and alignment to the strategic plan of the university.

This position is also responsible for supporting the mission of the university by delivering technology, services, solutions and guidance to the students, faculty, staff, and the community in a professional, exemplary, service oriented collaborative manner.

Responsibilities
  • Work with ERP Team and Stakeholders to gather requirements and lead solution development to business problems, including those that go beyond a technical footprint
  • Provide thought leadership in setting the technical direction of the University’s ERP system
  • Support or administer ERP application, including monitoring, cycling, and troubleshooting
  • Manage, maintain, and create ad-hoc queries and reports
  • Pursue opportunities within automating manual or antiquated processes, utilizing best practices.
  • Provide guidance, insight and recommendations around Standard Operating Procedures
  • Develop new integrations and maintain existing integrations with other systems.
  • Support ERP upgrades and patching
  • Accurately record, update, and document requests using the IT service desk system
  • Develop, implement and optimize stored procedures, objects (such as tables, indexes, triggers) and functions using PL/ SQL
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles and technical documentation
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the organization
  • Facilitate code review / promotion / version control under direction of change control group
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other members of the Enterprise Applications team
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (e.g., Banner, Workday) in Higher Education
  • Full understanding of SDLC
  • Smart sheets / Service Now for project tracking
  • System Integration (e.g., Snaplogic, Boomi, or Mulesoft)
  • Complex systems and procedures automation

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge across multiple disciplines; acting as a “go‑to” expert on principles, methods, and procedures
  • Outstanding written/oral communication and analytical skills, excellent presentation skills, and ability to communicate on both a technical and business level
  • Proficient in IT project management
  • Proficient in use of personal computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
  • Banner ERP operation, administration, or software development
  • PL/SQL technical skills and strong analytical analysis
  • eVisions
  • Blackboard/Banner interfacing knowledge

Abilities:

  • Work independently.
Experience Requirements
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of related experience.
  • Experience in higher education is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Routine office environment.
  • Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
  • Some stooping, lifting, or carrying light weight objects may be required.
  • Use of video display terminal.
