Eco Sys Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Act as the Eco Sys Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the configuration, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Eco Sys across projects. Provide strategic guidance, ensure standardization, and enable effective use of Eco Sys to support project controls and EPC project execution. The SME bridges business requirements and system capabilities — acting as both a functional advisor and a technical owner throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Implementation & Configuration

• Set up and configure projects, structures, and users in Eco Sys in alignment with global standards and project requirements.

• Translate project controls and business requirements into effective Eco Sys functional design and configuration.

• Support the Project Information Manager in planning and coordination of Project Delivery Systems implementation and integration.

• Deliver functional walkthroughs, training sessions, and system demonstrations to project teams.

• Maintain strong working relationships with project teams to ensure objectives are met and solutions remain effective.

2. Functional Advisory & Governance SME Layer

This section defines the responsibilities that elevate the role from Senior Specialist to true SME.

• Act as a functional advisor to projects on best practices for using Eco Sys effectively to achieve project controls outcomes.

• Define, maintain, and enforce Eco Sys standards, templates, and governance frameworks across all project locations.

• Review and approve complex configurations, change requests, and system usage approaches submitted by project teams.

• Ensure alignment between evolving project execution needs and Eco Sys system capabilities.

• Provide authoritative guidance during key project phases including start-up, execution, and close-out.

3. Project & User Support

• Provide Eco Sys system support through Service Now, including incident resolution, troubleshooting, and user assistance.

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize system usage across functions and project locations.

• Monitor system usage to ensure compliance with global standards and that each function's activities support effective Eco Sys adoption.

• Perform system health checks throughout the project lifecycle and support project closeout with documented lessons learned.

• Provide support for interfaces including training, troubleshooting, and data validation guidance.

4. New Release Testing & Deployment Management

• Lead testing of all Eco Sys modules and interfaces aligned to global configuration standards.

• Perform business impact assessment to ensure projects are not negatively impacted by system upgrades or new releases.

• Coordinate with the Eco Sys vendor for issue resolution and ensure timely closure of reported defects.

• Plan and support production rollout, including user communication, readiness planning, and change management.

• Monitor post-deployment performance and manage stabilization activities until system stability is confirmed.

5. Integration & Data Flow Management

• Provide functional guidance on integration design and data flow between Eco Sys and external systems (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP/ERP, Aconex).

• Support validation and troubleshooting of system interfaces to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

• Collaborate with interface owners to resolve data mapping issues and ensure seamless system interoperability.

6. Systems Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain in-depth expertise across all Eco Sys modules, project controls processes, and EPC project execution workflows.

• Evaluate new system functionality and determine fit-for-purpose adoption aligned with business needs.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, reporting, and data visibility for projects.

• Contribute to the Eco Sys system roadmap and strategic improvement planning in collaboration with global teams.

• Maintain a high-level understanding of external systems — particularly in an integration and data-flow perspective.
