The Director of University Social Media serves as the lead social media strategist across the institution and is responsible for monitoring social media activity, content creation, and developing and executing comprehensive social media campaigns that advance the institution's goals. Analyzes complex data to refine and improve performance, ensuring the University stays ahead in digital marketing strategies.
Implements comprehensive social media marketing plans and strategies for the University of Houston, University of Houston System and president/chancellor to increase visibility, engagement and recruitment efforts across all major platforms, while creating and curating content in a variety of formats tailored for each platform. This position is responsible for content development (including writing copy, developing still and motion graphics), idea generation and strategic planning to achieve institutional social media goals.Monitors trends in social media tools, applications and channels, ensuring the University stays ahead in digital marketing strategies. Oversees procurement for social media listening and analytics tools and uses these tools to routinely report on social media performance metrics, using complex data to drive decisions and forecast trends.Oversees campus-wide group of social media managers and communicators to inform on policy and best practices. Conducts personalized social media trainings and consultations with staff from colleges, departments and business units across the University. Works across campus and the UH System to to execute collaborative social media strategies and provides leadership to social media practitioners in a decentralized organization with varied reporting responsibility.Develops social media policies and guidelines for UH and the UH System, including guidance and content strategy plans for new social media properties. Ensures compliance with all legal, ethical and University policies in social media activities, safeguarding the institution's integrity and public trust.Maintains editorial calendar for key social media initiatives across UH and the UH System, ensuring appropriate infrastructure for scheduling, content creation, and campaign management and measurement are in place and evolving to meet the changing digital environment.Monitor social media channels and implements processes for social listening to identify potential negative or crisis situations, apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues and report to the university's management, ensuring timely and sensitive responses to protect the University's reputation. Communicates with senior leadership on matters involving social media and audience sentiment on specific issues of concern.Addresses customer service inquiries through direct messages on social media channels, ensuring that student success issues are escalated for resolution.MQ:
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
