Summary
The Systems Engineer is a key member of the Server Operations team responsible for managing, maintaining, securing, and improving the company’s IT infrastructure.
This role provides Level 2 support for global Windows and Linux server environments, troubleshoots complex issues, addresses security vulnerabilities, and supports infrastructure projects.
The Systems Engineer works with virtualization, cloud infrastructure, Active Directory, monitoring tools, and automation to keep systems reliable, secure, and available to support business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Server Support – Provide Level 2 support for Windows and Linux servers. Troubleshoot performance issues, system problems, and outages.
- Systems Administration – Install, configure, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux servers.
- Identity & Directory Services – Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Domain Controllers, NTP, and Certificate Services.
- Security & Vulnerability Management – Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities. Support patching, system hardening, security standards, and compliance requirements.
- Incident Management – Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents. Perform root-cause analysis, elevate issues when needed, and follow up after incidents are resolved.
- Monitoring & Automation – Use tools such as SCOM, Zabbix, SCCM, and Ansible Tower to monitor systems, respond to alerts, troubleshoot issues, and automate routine tasks.
- Virtualization & Backup – Support virtual server environments, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and recovery processes.
- Cloud Infrastructure – Manage and support cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, Entra , RBAC, DNS, and Site Recovery. Support the design and deployment of cloud Landing Zones.
- Monitoring Improvements – Help evaluate and improve system and endpoint monitoring to provide better visibility and identify issues early.
- Infrastructure Projects – Support infrastructure projects, system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.
- Maintenance & Upgrades – Participate in scheduled maintenance, including occasional weekend work, for patching, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
- On-Call Support – Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical infrastructure issues and emergencies as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or server operations.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting large-scale Windows Server and virtualization environments.
- Response to after‑hours emergencies as needed
- Strong hands‑on experience administering Windows Server environments, including Windows Server 2016–2025.
- Experience administering Linux server environments and common Linux distributions.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including:
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools such as SCOM, Zabbix, and SCCM.
- Experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible Tower or similar technologies.
