Associate Professor of Management Information Systems
The School of Business at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor of Management Information Systems, who is competent in instructing students, with an active, continuing research agenda. The ideal candidate will possess a doctoral degree with an emphasis in Management Information Systems, or a closely related discipline, from a regionally accredited university. A doctoral degree with substantial professional experience and certifications in Management Information Systems will also be considered.
A focus on Cybersecurity is a requirement of the position. This is a 9-month tenure-track position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Essential Duties Summary
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Management Information Systems and Cybersecurity. Conduct research that is presentable at professional academic conferences and acceptable for publication in referred academic journals. Active participation in departmental, school and university committees. Service to one's profession and the surrounding community. Advise and mentor students. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Education
- Doctoral degree in Management Information Systems with a focus on Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline, from a regionally accredited university at time of hire. A doctoral degree with substantial professional experience and certifications in Management Information Systems will also be considered.
Required Licensing/Certification
- Professional certification in Cybersecurity is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of:
Policies and Procedures. Current software and applications in Management Information Systems and Cybersecurity. Skill in:
Detail oriented. Effective customer service. Problem-solving and decision-making. Multitasking and time management. Both verbal and written communication. Ability to:
Work with a diverse student population. Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations.
Work Experience
- At least four referred academic journal publications at time of hire. Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.
Working/Environmental Conditions
- Prolonged standing and/or walking. Handling light weight objects. Using or carrying equipment.
