Network Security Specialist

Job Title:

Sr Palo Alto Security Expert / Lead

Location:

Houston TX / Texas Basic

Purpose:

Provide expert level technical support for designing, maintaining, and optimizing global network security systems. Create and enforce global network security standards, guidelines, and procedures. Implement secure network architectures and solutions. Perform technology and operational risk assessments, identifying control gaps and risky or problematic configurations. Work with stakeholders to drive remediation of security issues. Promote security awareness and advise on secure operational practices across IT and the organization.

Provide technical and operational leadership for a team of network security professionals.

• Must have proficiencies:
• Expert
  - Palo Alto Firewalls & Prisma Access security, operations & design
• Expert
  - Network security standards, methodologies, and best practices
• Expert
  - Understanding of networking protocols, threats, and risks
• Experience and proficiency with network access control concepts & methodologies
• 5+ years experience in network security operations and design
• Nice to have proficiencies:
• Forescout network access control
• Secure routing & switching
• Must possess a security mindset, well versed in security principles and best practices
• Must possess efficient and effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Professional security certifications are a plus (CISSP, GIAC, CEH, etc.)
• Technology certifications are also a plus (PCNSA, PCNSE, etc.)
• Ability to work within a team and with limited direction and guidance
• Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting and time management skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
