Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Property, Casualty, and Benefits Administrator to join our dynamic claims team. We are a large utility contractor seeking an experienced customer service representative with documented work in the property and casualty area of insurance and some employee benefits exposure. The position will work directly with the Benefits Claim Manager for internal benefits administration and external field property claims resolution.
Detail responsibilities are as follows.
- Assist with the administration of all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, long term disability, and 401K
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits eligibility, coverage, enrollment and changes
- Support the open enrollment process and maintain benefits records
- Coordinate with benefit providers to resolve issues and discrepancies
- Assist with benefit audits and reviews
- Respond to email requests from Centerpoint regarding property damage in field operations
- Contact homeowners or businesses to obtain information needed for claims resolution
- Coordinate with Construction staff for specific claim guidance and crew scheduling for repair as needed
- Prepare summary reporting information and documentation of claim status and details
- Advanced computer knowledge, including Excel
- Bilingual verbal and written abilities in English and Spanish required
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with insurance agents, employees and homeowners
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Advanced analytical & problem‑solving skills
- Ability to prioritize workload while meeting deadlines
- Strong judgment skills with confident decision‑making ability
- Highly self‑directed with a strong ability to work both independently and with minimal supervision

- Property and casualty insurance administration: 5 years (Required)
- Benefits experience with industry or broker: 2 years (Preferred but not required)

M. J. Sheridan of Texas, Inc. (MJS) serves major gas utility companies with installation of residential and commercial gas lines. The work includes both new and replacement installations. In the state of Texas alone, MJS installed over 20,000 natural gas service lines in 2018 and in the last 10 years, 300,000+ Houston homes received gas installations. As of November 2018, MJS is installing CenterPoint Energy's service lines in Houston.
