Position: Consultant, Brokerage Excess (E&S/Specialty)

For our client, we are seeking a Consultant, Brokerage Excess (E&S/Specialty) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on evaluating complex commercial risks, underwriting individual accounts, and supporting brokerage excess business within the specialty insurance market.

The Consultant will partner closely with brokers to drive production goals, maintain strong underwriting discipline, and help ensure profitable results through sound pricing and risk selection.

In addition, this position will support internal knowledge sharing by mentoring other underwriters and contributing to training across the team.

Location:

Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $104,000 – $156,000 annually

Responsibilities
  • Research and evaluate new classes of business and market trends
  • Underwrite individual risks, determining acceptability and pricing for complex accounts
  • Achieve production and loss ratio goals through effective broker management
  • Handle policy maintenance and mid-term requests while ensuring compliance
  • Foster strong relationships with brokers and resolve conflicts as they arise
  • Exercise expertise in facultative reinsurance placements according to guidelines
  • Mentor and educate other underwriters through internal training
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered
  • Completion of insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, or ARM preferred
  • Eight years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience, particularly with complex or large accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of complex Commercial Lines underwriting policies and insurance law
  • Proficiency in facultative and treaty reinsurance concepts
