Dual Language Teacher

Purpose:
To provide instruction in a dual language program that fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competence for students participating in the dual language model. The teacher will deliver content instruction in both English and Spanish in alignment with the district's curriculum and language allocation guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required Bilingual Education or Dual Language endorsement
- Demonstrated proficiency in both English and Spanish (oral and written)
- Strong knowledge of second language acquisition and culturally responsive teaching
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide instruction in English and Spanish according to the district's dual language framework and language of the day
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that promote academic achievement in both languages
- Use sheltered instruction strategies to support English Learners (ELs)
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of dual language learners
- Collaborate with bilingual/dual language teams to plan integrated units and assessments
- Monitor and document student progress in both English and Spanish literacy
- Communicate regularly with families in their preferred language
- Participate in ongoing professional development for dual language instruction
- Maintain compliance with state and federal program requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or bilingual/ESL department
Working Conditions:
- Classroom environment with frequent interactions with students, parents, and staff
- May require lifting materials and equipment up to 25 pounds
- Frequent use of computer and instructional technology

*$67,200 Starting Salary
* Salary is commensurate with experience
* Works 187 Day Calendar
