About the Opportunity

We're seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of civil litigation experience to join the firm's General Liability Defense practice in Houston. This team handles a wide range of matters including premises liability, construction accidents, transportation and trucking defense, negligent security, and personal injury defense.

This position offers the chance to work directly with partners on high-exposure cases, sharpen litigation skills, and gain valuable courtroom experience while enjoying a professional, balanced work culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a general liability defense caseload from inception through resolution with partner oversight
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive and discovery motions
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
• Prepare pleadings, discovery responses, and legal correspondence
• Attend mediations, hearings, and trials as required
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
• Maintain accurate time records and meet firm billing expectations

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice in the State of Texas and in good standing (additional state bars a plus)
• 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, ideally in general liability or insurance defense
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong organization and case management abilities
• Deposition and motion practice experience required; trial experience a plus
