We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our Immigration Law practice, with a primary focus on removal defense for detained and non-detained individuals. This position is ideal for a newly licensed attorney or recent graduate (0–1 year of experience) who is eager to gain hands‑on courtroom experience and committed to client‑centered advocacy.
The Associate Attorney will represent clients in removal proceedings and handle related immigration matters including bond hearings, habeas corpus petitions, family‑based immigration petitions, lawful permanent residence (green card) applications, and naturalization cases.
Fluency in Spanish is strictly required due to the nature of client communications.
- Represent detained and non‑detained clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court (EOIR)
- Appear in court for master calendar hearings, individual (merits) hearings, bond hearings, and trials, under supervision as appropriate
- Draft and file motions, briefs, pleadings, bond requests, and habeas corpus petitions
- Conduct legal research using AILA resources, practice advisories, and relevant immigration law materials
- Prepare and file family‑based petitions, adjustment of status (green card) applications, and naturalization applications
- Manage case files, deadlines, and filings using the firm’s case management system
- Conduct client consultations in Spanish and English, explaining legal options, procedures, and case strategies clearly
- Communicate with EOIR, USCIS, ICE, and detention facilities
- Stay current on immigration law developments affecting removal defense and family‑based immigration
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school (required)
- 0–1 year of legal experience; newly licensed attorneys and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Admission to a U.S. state bar (or eligibility for admission) required
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is strictly required
- Willingness and ability to appear in immigration court and detention facilities
- Prior immigration law coursework, clinic participation, or internship experience preferred but not required
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
