A Houston-area energy company is looking for a Counsel to join its legal team. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong commercial contracts experience. The position will support a broad range of commercial and operational matters across refining, logistics, and related industrial operations, working closely with internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including procurement, services, EPC, logistics, IT, and confidentiality agreements
- Advise business partners on risk mitigation, contract structure, and commercial considerations
- Support dispute resolution and litigation management in coordination with outside counsel
- Assist with regulatory matters (including pipeline/FERC-related issues) as needed
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and commercial teams
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing
- 3–7 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Prior in-house experience preferred; law firm training a plus
- Experience in energy, industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments strongly preferred
- Practical, business-minded approach with strong communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, in-office setting
