Legal Secretary, Paralegal
Job Title: Paralegal
Location: Houston, TX
-100% in the office
Pay: $75,000 - $80,000 / year
Benefits: This role is eligible for Medical and PTO
Job Responsibilities- Draft, review, and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, affidavits, correspondence) in compliance with court rules and e-filing systems.
- Proofread filings for accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct legal research; summarize case law, statutes, and regulations for attorney review.
- Utilize litigation platforms (e.g., DISCO, Relativity) to review and analyze document productions.
- Assist with trial preparation, including binders, exhibits, and tables of authorities.
- Provide logistical and on-site trial support, including exhibit management and witness coordination.
- Manage a docket of pharmaceutical mass tort cases from intake through resolution.
- Maintain case summaries, chronologies, and detailed calendaring of deadlines and milestones.
- Ensure fact sheets, discovery responses, and required documentation are completed on time.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure efficient workflow.
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, and written correspondence to gather case information.
- Schedule appointments and assist with completing plaintiff/client fact sheets.
- Maintain a professional, empathetic approach when discussing sensitive matters with clients and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA-approved paralegal certificate preferred or years of experience will be considered.
- 8+ years of legal experience, preferably in complex litigation or mass torts.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with e-filing and document management systems.
- Familiarity with PACER, Lexis Nexis, and Westlaw.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
