Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the Role
We are seeking a Texas-barred Property Tax Attorney with 2–10 years of hands‑on property tax experience who is a strong executor and problem solver. This is not a purely academic litigation role. We are looking for a high‑output, detail‑oriented attorney who enjoys doing the work — preparing cases, negotiating reductions, managing deadlines, and consistently delivering results for clients. The right candidate is confident in hearings, organized under pressure during protest season, and comfortable managing a meaningful caseload independently.
WhatYou’ll Do Property Tax Protests & Hearings
- Prepare and present property tax protests before Texas Appraisal Review Boards (ARBs)
- Analyze appraisal district evidence, income approaches, cost approaches, and market data
- Prepare and submit evidence packets and supporting exhibits
- Negotiate valuation reductions directly with appraisal district staff
- Advise clients regarding exemptions and special valuations
- Handle property tax litigation and appeals at district and county levels
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and court proceedings
- Coordinate with expert witnesses and appraisers
- Track statutory deadlines and ensure compliance
- Manage multiple matters simultaneously during peak protest season
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding strategy and outcomes
- Maintain organized case files and documentation
- Collaborate with administrative staff for efficient case processing
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- 2–10 years of property tax experience in Texas
- Direct experience handling ARB hearings
- Working knowledge of Texas Property Tax Code and procedural requirements
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage deadlines during high‑volume seasons
- Experience in a property tax law firm or appraisal district
- Familiarity with commercial and residential valuation methodologies
- Experience with exemptions (homestead, business personal property, special use)
- Courtroom or contested hearing experience
