The Legal Intern will support the Legal Department by assisting with legal research, contract review, compliance initiatives, and administrative tasks.
This role offers hands-on exposure to corporate and commercial legal matters within a dynamic business environment and provides the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
The Legal Intern will be involved in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation, drafting, and review of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Support the legal team in compliance, regulatory, and litigation-related matters.
- Draft and review commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, sales contracts, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as procurement, human resources, sales, and operations to understand the legal department's role in supporting business objectives.
- Provide administrative support, including organizing and maintaining legal files and document management systems.
- Contribute to special projects or departmental initiatives as assigned.
- Attend court hearings, arbitration proceedings, mediations, or client meetings when appropriate, for observational and learning purposes.
The following criteria will be beneficial for a Legal Intern:
- Demonstrated interest in or relevant coursework related to corporate law, commercial transactions, or manufacturing/industrial operations.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude and willingness to take on challenging assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or undergraduate program with a legal focus.
- Prior internship or work experience in a legal, corporate, or compliance-related environment.
