Insurance Defense Paralegal (Temp‑to‑hire) – Houston
A complex litigation law firm located in the Galleria area of Houston is seeking a temp‑to‑hire insurance defense Paralegal to join their team. Candidates must have 5+ years of litigation experience and be well‑versed in filing in state (Texas) and federal courts.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Review, organize, and summarize case files and documents to support attorneys in trial preparation.
- Examine records to identify additional information needed to advance case strategy.
- Draft routine legal documents, including notices, affidavits, memoranda, and correspondence.
- Prepare and coordinate discovery materials.
- Order, review, and summarize medical records as needed.
- Analyze case matters and prepare evaluations and status reports for clients.
- Communicate regularly with clients, attorneys, staff, and external parties to exchange or obtain information.
- Record billable time daily using the firm’s accounting and billing software.
- Manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining efficiency and a high level of accuracy under pressure.
- Utilize firm software effectively and adapt to handling tasks from multiple team members.
- Adhere to ethical standards as outlined in the applicable State Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Minimum of 5 years of recent Insurance Defense paralegal experience
, including both State and Federal litigation. - Bachelor’s degree and/or an ABA‑approved Paralegal Certificate preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Pro.
- Strong time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and mediators.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define issues, gather data, assess facts, and draw well‑supported conclusions.
- Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and a commitment to quality improvement.
