- To provide employment and HR legal advice to all functions in eir that is in line with company strategy and commercial goals.
- To liaise with external counsel and legal firms as directed
- To liaise with appropriate government agencies including in conjunction with other departments and teams
Day-to-Day advice on employment law and HR matters to the remainder of the legal function and to the rest of the business.
Legal Function:
- Direct and in depth involvement in all employment matters including WRC, Labour Court, referrals, investigations, case management and decisions, as well as consultations and decisions.
- Advising on the likely changes to the employment law and labour relations framework.
- End to end management of all employment law litigation, including, representation before employment fora and/or briefing counsel as appropriate.
- The role requires an excellent understanding of Irish employment law and the workings of employment fora including the WRC and Labour Court.
Working with Legal Department:
- Providing employment law advices to members of the Legal Department
- Working with the Legal colleagues where legal advice is required including on TUPE, outsourcing, and Employee Data Protection matters
- The role requires a close and supportive relationship between the legal and HR functions.
General requirememts:
- Engagement and experience in a cross-functional, general supporting role would be desirable.
- Latitude to make decisions impacting the relevant function outside of established procedures but within a policy framework.
- Information exchange is a significant feature of the job with a necessity to clarify information of a more complex nature.
There is a requirement for tact and diplomacy when dealing with others. - Personability and fit in team, organization and structure is a core competency.
- Solicitor / Barrister with 5 years’ plus experience
- Knowledge of the Workplace Relations, Labour Court and Industrial Relations landscape
- Ability to align within a fast paced and agile environment.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Solutions Focused
- Experience in employment law within a top tier law firm or in house team
- Post-graduate qualification in employment law is desirable.
