Job SummaryThe Supply Chain Applications Specialist is responsible for supporting purchasing activities across Operating Room (OR) and Central Supply departments for a large, multi-hospital healthcare system. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate procurement of medical equipment and supplies while supporting stabilization and optimization efforts of the ERP system.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on buyer experience, strong Workday end-user proficiency, and a healthcare supply chain background, with the flexibility to operate as a supply chain generalist in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support purchasing activities for OR-specific equipment and supplies, as well as non-OR supplies
- Create, manage, and monitor purchase orders within Workday ERP, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely fulfillment
- Partner closely with OR staff, Central Supply teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support daily procurement needs
- Assist with post–Workday go-live stabilization, including data cleanup and master file maintenance
- Review and resolve purchasing issues related to pricing, item setup, vendor information, and order discrepancies
- Support inventory-related activities, including item maintenance, usage tracking, and replenishment processes
- Perform data entry and maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy of items, suppliers, and purchasing records in Workday
- Act as a supply chain generalist, jumping in to support multiple functional areas as needed during high-volume or transitional periods
- Ensure purchasing activities align with hospital policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
- Healthcare experience REQUIRED (hospital, clinic, outpatient, dental, or similar healthcare setting)
- Proven experience supporting purchasing or buyer functions, preferably within a healthcare supply chain environment
- Hands-on Workday ERP experience — ability to navigate, transact, and troubleshoot within the system
- Experience supporting OR purchasing activities strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high transaction volumes accurately
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, post-implementation environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical, operational, and vendor partners
