Emerson has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer! Based in Houston, TX (Aldine Westfield location) you will place purchase orders to support the master production schedule and manufacturing with consideration given to price, lot size and lead time requirements. You will communicate with suppliers to expedite materials, provide forecasts, resolve receiving and quality issues and follow up on past due deliveries.
InThis Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Identifying and selecting new suppliers, negotiating pricing and lead times.
- Collaborate daily with materials planners, master scheduler, quality control, management staff and corporate personnel.
- Create purchase orders and blanket purchase agreements to support production and manufacturing.
- Responsible for respective new item creations/workflows by updating organization parameters Action receiving issues, outstanding invoices and quality issues timely.
- Works with the Materials Planning Team to ensure shortages are being expedited to support commitment dates.
- Work with Engineering personnel as needed in regards to material deviations and material improvements.
- Resets min/max levels for raw material items based on guidance from the Planning Analyst and Dept. Supervisor or Dept. Manager.
- Manage respective suppliers’ on‑time performance.
- Investigate and follow up on invoice and packing slip disputes when assistance is requested by accounts payable. Communicate any supplier MRO order discrepancies and work to resolve issues with necessary parties.
- Interacts with all levels of plant and corporate personnel including the Strategic Sourcing team on a regular basis.
- Implement and/or participate in inventory reduction programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime as required.
- You quickly and decisively take action in fast‑changing, unpredictable situations, Understand that different situations may call for different approaches. You anticipate future trends and implications accurately.
- Associates Degree of Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of 2 years job related manufacturing experience
- Demonstrated experience in finding sources and negotiating pricing/lead time
- Knowledge of computer programs:
Microsoft Office - Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning Systems
- Experience working with bills of materials
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available for this position)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Oracle experience
