The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing sales orders, raw material purchasing, logistics planning, and transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of products and efficient supply chain operations. This position reports directly to the Customer Service Supervisor.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES- Process sales orders, ensuring accurate entry and on time delivery across multiple channels.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to manage the order to cash process.
- Monitor co product tank levels and report weekly product availability to customers.
- Manage raw material purchasing, including purchase order entry, supplier scheduling, and contract compliance.
- Schedule railcars and coordinate raw material deliveries based on production forecasts.
- Oversee logistics planning, including offsite inventory, inbound/outbound scheduling, overseas shipping support, and lot number database management.
- Create S&R night orders for Operations and maintain planning/forecasting tools.
- Develop KPIs, manage supply chain data, and participate in monthly S&OP meetings.
- Manage rail and truck logistics, including carrier communication, rate maintenance, and performance monitoring.
- Negotiate with logistics providers to optimize costs and establish dedicated lanes.
- Calculate and distribute customer formula pricing; update ERP system pricing as needed.
- Review and approve/dispute invoices prior to payment.
- Assist in dispute resolution with customers and sales managers, maintaining professionalism in handling complaints or cancellations.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Maintain evergreen work instructions and procedures.
- Support inventory management, mitigating shortages and ensuring customer delivery dates are met.
- Provide back up support to the Supply Chain Group as needed.
- Contribute to effective implementation of the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of progressive experience in customer service and logistics, specifically within chemical manufacturing.
- High school diploma required or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Working knowledge of transportation/logistics (packaged, bulk, rail, ocean) and DOT regulations.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems (SAP or similar).
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Experience handling international shipments and related paperwork.
