OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced SCM Technical Writer to support the development, enhancement, and standardization of Supply Chain Management (SCM) process documentation. This role will partner closely with supply chain leadership, process owners, and subject matter experts to document and improve operational processes across warehouse operations, inventory management, purchasing, material planning, logistics, and related functions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, business process documentation, and process improvement within a supply chain environment.
Key Responsibilities Process Documentation- Review, develop, and update Supply Chain Management documentation, including:
- Policies and standards
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Process maps and workflows
- Templates and forms
- Work instructions, desk references, RACIs, and checklists
- Training and reference materials
- Conduct interviews and working sessions with process owners, advisors, and key stakeholders to gather information and validate documentation.
- Facilitate discussions to clarify business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Document current-state ("As-Is") and future-state ("To-Be") business processes.
- Create process flow diagrams, workflow maps, and supporting visual documentation.
- Identify documentation gaps and recommend improvements that enhance consistency, usability, and compliance.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with established governance frameworks, quality standards, templates, terminology, and writing guidelines.
- Maintain version control and document integrity throughout the development process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by driving standardization across SCM functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and maintaining business process documentation.
- Previous experience supporting Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Materials Management, or Warehouse Operations organizations.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or similar frameworks is preferred.
- Exceptional technical writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interviewing, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Experience using process documentation and diagramming tools, including:
- Microsoft Visio
- Share Point
- Power Point
- Documentum or similar document management systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent organizational, coordination, and progress reporting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
