The Purchasing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role oversees the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for residential construction projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, evaluating bids, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring materials meet quality and cost requirements. The Purchasing Manager collaborates closely with construction, finance, and sales teams to align purchasing decisions with project schedules and budget targets.
This role also involves analyzing market trends, updating pricing databases, and continuously improving purchasing processes to support efficient, cost-effective operations.
- Demonstrated skills in procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation, with a focus on cost control and quality assurance.
- Experience working with construction materials, residential building products, or homebuilding supply chains.
- Proficiency in using ERP or purchasing software, spreadsheets, and related tools to track orders, pricing, and inventory.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and forecasting abilities to support data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within construction or real estate industries is highly beneficial.
