Senior Logistics Specialist
Abundant Solutions is hiring a Senior Logistics Specialist to join our team in Houston! We are seeking an experienced Senior Logistics Specialist to manage the movement of tools, equipment, materials, and inventory while supporting field operations and customer schedules. This position plays a key role in logistics planning, inventory control, international shipping, import/export compliance, and purchasing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in coordinating complex domestic and international shipments.
This role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, work across departments, resolve logistical issues quickly, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Logistics & Transportation
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of tools, equipment, materials, and finished goods.
- Ensure the timely and successful movement of equipment between service centers, customers, suppliers, and other locations.
- Plan and coordinate transportation to support customer schedules, maintenance requirements, and operational needs.
- Monitor shipments and proactively address delays, transportation issues, or supply concerns.
- Identify opportunities to reduce freight, inventory, and overall logistics costs.
- Coordinate reverse logistics for the return of equipment, assets, and inventory to company locations or suppliers.
- Develop alternative and emergency supplier resources when needed.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, components, equipment, subassemblies, and finished goods.
- Ensure inventory is properly identified, secured, organized, and accessible to authorized personnel.
- Conduct physical inventory and cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Analyze inventory levels and coordinate requirements with operations, production, scheduling, and other departments.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipment quantities for accuracy.
- Help optimize inventory levels while ensuring necessary tools and materials are available to support operations.
Import/Export & International Shipping
- Coordinate the movement of goods across international borders in compliance with company policies and applicable customs regulations.
- Prepare, review, and maintain import/export documentation, including:
- Customs declarations
- Purchase orders
- Packing lists
- Commercial invoices
- Shipper's Letters of Instruction (SLI)
- Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Air Waybills (AWB)
- Import certificates and other required shipping documentation
- Verify commercial and sales invoices for shipment quantities, value of goods, country of origin, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between international customers, suppliers, procurement, manufacturing, finance, distribution, planning, and compliance teams.
- Ensure international shipments meet applicable customs and regulatory requirements.
Purchasing & Procurement
- Issue and track intercompany purchase orders.
- Research potential suppliers, materials, products, and services.
- Compare pricing, quality, availability, and delivery schedules to identify the best purchasing options.
- Review purchase requests for compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Process purchase requisitions and procurement requests in a timely manner.
- Issue, receive, and invoice purchase orders for goods and services within the company's ERP system.
- Track orders and ensure materials and services are received on time.
- Communicate with vendors regarding orders, delivery schedules, discrepancies, and other issues.
- Partner with internal departments to determine purchasing needs, quality expectations, and delivery requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and increase efficiency.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or planning.
- 5+ years of inventory management experience.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to work in multiple systems and databases.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
