Job Description

The Procurement Specialist leads strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiates high-value supplier agreements, and drives cost reduction and supply chain optimization across key commodities. This role provides analytical leadership, supports financial objectives, and mentors procurement team members.

Responsibilities

+ Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize supply chain and reduce costs.

+ Negotiate high-value supplier agreements to achieve measurable cost savings.

+ Drive supply chain optimization across key commodities.

+ Provide analytical leadership and support financial objectives.

+ Mentor procurement team members, including Procurement Agents and Expeditors.

+ Manage complex or high-value commodities and supplier relationships.

+ Analyze price variance (PPV), supplier performance, and total cost of ownership.

+ Influence suppliers and internal stakeholders through strong communication skills.

+ Identify risks and proactively adjust sourcing strategies to prevent disruptions.

Essential Skills

+ 3-5+ years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain management.

+ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management/Industrial Distribution preferred.

+ Demonstrated success negotiating pricing, terms, and supplier agreements with measurable cost savings.

+ Experience managing complex or high-value commodities and supplier relationships.

+ Advanced negotiation and decision-making skills.

+ Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred) and Microsoft Excel.

+ Solid understanding of contract terms, pricing structures, and working capital impact.

+ Strong knowledge of supply chain dynamics, including lead times, capacity constraints, and market trends.

+ Ability to identify risks and proactively adjust sourcing strategies to prevent disruptions.

+ Proven ability to mentor and support junior team members.

+ Experience analyzing price variance (PPV), supplier performance, and total cost of ownership.

+ Strong communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.29/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
