Expeditor

Job Description

The Expeditor serves as the organization's primary post-purchase order rapid-response resource, resolving commercial and outsourced material disruptions that threaten schedule execution. This role activates immediately after a purchase order is issued and is defined by urgency, persistence, and a strong sense of ownership. The Expeditor actively chases, tracks, and resolves issues related to vendor acknowledgments and missing, short, incorrect, held, or late materials, ensuring that projects stay on track and customers receive timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

+ Serve as the primary rapid-response contact for post-purchase order material issues that may impact schedule execution.

+ Actively chase, track, and resolve vendor acknowledgments to ensure all purchase orders are confirmed accurately and on time.

+ Identify and resolve issues with missing, short, incorrect, held, or late materials to prevent delays in production or project schedules.

+ Work closely with internal departments, including Planning, Engineering, and Project Coordination, to remove material obstacles in real time.

+ Coordinate priorities with Planners to align material availability with production and project schedules.

+ Route Engineering material changes through Project Coordinators to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.

+ Escalate any required changes to price, quantity, freight, authorization, or other purchase order terms to the appropriate decision-makers.

+ Maintain accurate records of material status, vendor communication, and purchase order changes through diligent data entry and administrative support.

+ Monitor inventory levels and support inventory management activities to ensure materials are available when needed.

+ Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to expedite shipments and resolve logistical challenges.

+ Support purchasing, logistics, supply chain, and procurement activities by providing timely updates on material status.

+ Continuously follow up on open issues with urgency and persistence until they are fully resolved.

Essential Skills

+ Experience or foundational knowledge in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, or procurement.

+ Understanding of inventory and inventory management principles.

+ Strong administrative support and data entry skills with high attention to detail.

+ Ability to work with urgency, persistence, and a strong sense of ownership to resolve material issues.

+ Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

+ Organizational skills to track multiple purchase orders, material issues, and priorities simultaneously.

+ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Project Management, Procurement, or a related field.

Work Environment

The work setting supports collaboration, rapid communication, and real-time problem solving as the organization continues to grow rapidly, offering opportunities for career development within procurement and supply chain.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
