The Capacity Planning Specialist (Ground) covers, dispatches, and monitors assigned ground shipments using Aljex, Open Dock, and MacroPoint. The role secures qualified carriers, manages pickup/delivery appointments, tracks in-transit ETAs, and audits final carrier costs to enable accurate billing.
Essential Job Functions Coverage & Dispatch- Source approved carriers and confirm rates, equipment, and compliance in Aljex.
- Complete dispatch and verify MacroPoint tracking is active prior to pickup.
- Schedule and update Open Dock pickup/delivery appointments; record details in Aljex.
- Adjust appointments as needed; route customer-facing changes through the Operational Account Manager.
- Track ETAs via MacroPoint, update Aljex milestones (e.g., Arrived PU), and flag at-risk delivery windows.
- Conduct check calls when automated tracking is unavailable.
- Audit and confirm final carrier charges (FCC) in Aljex within 24 hours of delivery.
- Validate accessorials/detention against carrier documentation and resolve rate disputes before billing.
- Escalate capacity shortages, carrier service failures, and consolidation opportunities to management.
- Immediately report security issues to GSOC and system defects to the Program Manager.
- Complete shift handovers to ensure seamless transfer of open loads and appointments.
- Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work using standard office equipment (keyboard, mouse, monitor). - Tools & Systems:
Proficiency with Open Dock, MacroPoint/Tive, and Aljex. - Domain Knowledge:
Experience managing vetted carrier pools, accessorial structures, margin control, and specialized/cross-border freight.
