THE ROLE:The Procurement Specialist supports daily procurement and inventory control activities under the guidance of the Senior Materials Manager to ensure the timely acquisition of materials, components, and services required for medical device production. This role is responsible for issuing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, managing internal and external changes in the supply chain, monitoring delivery schedules, maintaining accurate purchasing records, and collaborating with Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure stable supply operations while complying with company policies and industry regulations.
WHATYOU'LL DO:
- Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with suppliers.
- Coordinate with domestic and international suppliers regarding orders, delivery schedules, and documentation.
- Monitor delivery status and follow up on delays or discrepancies to ensure timely supply.
- Manage changes originating both internally and externally within the supply chain.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and update ERP or purchasing systems.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure materials meet required specifications.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ISO 13485, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Manage inventory to maintain accurate counts and optimal stock levels.
- Together with Marketing and Production, ensure adequate stock levels are available to meet finished product demands.
- Support commercial product distribution, as needed, by assisting with order fulfillment and shipping.
- Assist in preparing procurement data and reports with respect to spending, supplier performance metrics, and sourcing.
- At least 10% of travel to suppliers may be required.
- Associate’s degree or advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant Procurement and Inventory Management experience.
- Experience working in an ERP system such as Net Suite, Oracle, SAP, or Epicor.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams of colleagues and suppliers.
- Attention to detail in data entry, analytics, and record keeping.
