Job Summary
We are seeking a Procurement - Category Manager III for a contract opportunity in Houston, TX, supporting strategic sourcing and supply chain operations within the energy and utilities industry. This role is ideal for an analytical, organized procurement professional who wants hands-on exposure to category strategy, supplier performance, contracting, reporting, and continuous improvement.
In this position, you will work in a collaborative supply chain environment with strong cross-functional partnership, supportive leadership, and opportunities to build practical experience across strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, analytics, and business operations. Key Responsibilities- Support category strategies, sourcing initiatives, contracting plans, supplier programs, and execution tracking.
- Build and maintain dashboards for supplier performance, savings initiatives, budgets, metrics, and project progress.
- Coordinate supplier meetings, strategic business reviews, executive sponsor discussions, workshops, and industry activities.
- Partner with Supply Chain, category teams, operations, suppliers, and business stakeholders to support business objectives.
- Identify process roadblocks, supplier performance gaps, and opportunities to improve communication, service, and execution.
- Standardize procurement tools, templates, reporting, documentation, and audit-ready records while leveraging digital tools and automation.
- Pay range: $65.00 to $71.00 per hour.

- Support strategic sourcing, category management, supplier programs, and procurement execution initiatives.
- Maintain supplier performance dashboards, savings reports, budget tracking, and initiative progress reporting.
- Coordinate supplier reviews, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and cross-functional improvement projects.
- Maintain procurement documentation, digital platforms, reporting tools, and audit-ready records.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of professional experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, operations, analytics, or a related business function.
- Strong interest in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, supplier management, and contracting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Comfortable working with dashboards, reporting, metrics, business data, and digital productivity tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage suppliers, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Action-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement focus and commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Interest in AI, automation, and digital tools that improve procurement processes and business productivity.
- Exposure to procurement, purchasing, supplier management, logistics, transportation, or energy and utilities operations.
- Familiarity with supplier performance scorecards, strategic business reviews, sourcing events, or contract support.
- Experience creating or maintaining reports, dashboards, templates, process documentation, or procurement records.
- Interest in building a long-term career in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or supplier performance.
