Senior Category Manager

Description

Our client, a well-established organization located in Downtown Houston, is seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic procurement and supply chain professional who brings deep category management expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and a passion for driving sourcing excellence.

Position Overview

The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for leading category strategy, strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier management, and procurement optimization efforts across key spend areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, supply chain, or strategic sourcing, along with the ability to leverage data and reporting tools to support business decisions and improve performance.

Key Responsibilities

+ Develop and execute category management and strategic sourcing strategies

+ Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and vendor performance initiatives

+ Analyze spend data and procurement trends to identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities

+ Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business objectives

+ Build reporting tools, dashboards, and insights to support procurement decision-making

+ Drive process improvements across procurement and purchasing operations

+ Support procure-to-pay (P2P) initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Requirements

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, or a related field

+ 10+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables

+ Experience using data to support sourcing strategy and business recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

+

Experience with Power BI

+ Ability to build dashboards and reporting tools

+ COUPA experience is a major plus

+ Strong understanding of P2P (Procure-to-Pay) processes
