Position Summary:

The Facilities Technician is a benefits-eligible, full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Facilities Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining the campus’s facilities and grounds. This will include, but is not limited to, performing tasks related to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, painting, and event setup.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the proper upkeep of campus facilities and grounds and assist in all work areas as needed.
  • Complete assigned maintenance help desk tickets in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty and staff while keeping the Facilities Manager informed of potential issues.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of supplies.
  • Keep areas clean and well organized.
  • Respond to life safety and system alarms during and outside normal working hours.
  • Available to work after-hours and weekends.
  • Participate in professional training to enhance skills and proficiency.
  • Support safety procedures and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable building and safety codes, OSHA regulations, hazardous materials management, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with current codes and regulations.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in coordinating contractors and vendors while maintaining professional relationships.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager to assess and plan capital improvements.

  • Volunteer for service at one or more Fay community events per year.

Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in facilities and grounds maintenance preferred.
  • Prior experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Experience with power and hand tools used in routine maintenance.
  • Ability to install, inspect, repair, and maintain building and grounds systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedural documents.
  • Ability to multitask with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write reports and address groups of employees.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with technology and common office software, and willing to use it for communication and task management.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Certifications related to maintenance equipment required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to perform certain physical tasks including sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs, hills and ladders, kneeling, crawling, reach with hands and arms, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, monitoring children and the immediate environment visibly and audibly and the ability to give audible instructions that can be understood by English speakers in a loud environment.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, etc. and on various surfaces, some inclined, including grass, dirt, trails, decking, pavement and concrete. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus and see well enough to read, drive and recognize signs, directions and faces.
