THE OPPORTUNITYFollowing significant growth in recent years, the Venterra is seeking a motivated Compensation professional to build out a scalable compensation function from the ground up and to play an active role in new systems implementation. The Compensation Manager partners with the Director, Total Rewards, to design, implement, and administer the company’s compensation programs across a portfolio of multifamily real estate properties and corporate operations.
This role ensures compensation structures are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives — attracting and retaining top talent across property management, development, construction, and corporate functions. The Compensation Manager serves as a subject matter expert on all matters related to base pay, incentive compensation, and pay equity, partnering closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, and senior leadership.
Standard business hours with periodic extended hours during annual planning cycles.
- Partner with the Director, Total Rewards, to develop and maintain the company’s compensation philosophy, structures, and policies, ensuring alignment with business strategy and market competitiveness.
- Lead the annual compensation planning cycle - including merit increases, incentive payouts, promotions, and market adjustments informed by salary surveys, market pricing, and benchmarking analyses – as well as the administration of quarterly on-site performance bonuses and leasing commissions.
- Conduct and participate in salary surveys, performing market pricing and benchmarking analyses.
- Support the design and maintenance of the company’s job architecture framework, including job leveling, titling conventions, FLSA classifications, and salary grade structures.
- Prepare and present compensation analytics, dashboards, and recommendations to senior leadership, translating data into actionable insights.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop competitive offer strategies and ensure internal equity before roles are posted to market.
- Conduct pay equity analyses and support compliance with federal, state, and local compensation-related regulations, including pay transparency laws across applicable jurisdictions.
- Advise HR Business Partners and hiring managers on compensation decisions, policy interpretation, and exception requests.
- Support the Director, Total Rewards on executive compensation matters, senior-level reporting, and special projects as needed.
