Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
Summary
Provides experienced administrative and technical support for the maintenance and operation of all buildings, structures, systems, components and utilities and assists the department manager with the coordination and supervision of designated shops and all associated activities. Impacts the activities of trades, crafts personnel in management of building maintenance and operations for patient care, research and/or administrative facilities.
Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure efficiency and productivity. Supervises daily workload of Craft and Maintenance Technicians. Supervises effective PM processes on all assigned infrastructure and utility systems to provide safe and reliable utility systems. Improves PM process and frequencies to improve productivity and effectiveness. Assures accurate information is posted on labor and materials used on work completed on all A and PM work orders.
Monitors service contracts and negotiates with vendors/contractors. Plans and consults in designing and initiating repairs, remodeling, and construction projects when assigned.
Supervises special systems: pneumatic tubes, trash and linen systems as assigned. Maintains assigned operating budget within the acceptable +/- 2% variance. Manages overtime to stay within guidelines. Provides lead support of the Energy Initiative.
Manages Customer Response and JC Compliance Support. Communicates daily with customers to assure quality service with minimum call backs. Maintains inter-departmental relationships to maximize responsiveness to customer needs and demands. Collaborates closely with other shifts and departments. Supervises outages on their shift. Provides lead support to the EOC program and supports all initiatives associated with Joint Commission readiness (ready every day).
Manages employee workload, documents staff and team performance, metrics management. Effectively schedules work for the front-line staff and supervises shift coverage and hand-off of backlog to subsequent shift supervisor. Works closely with the Planner/Scheduler and WCC team. Effectively tracks workload and schedule compliance. Supervises work order status, monitors staff and team members' performance, manages assets assigned. Assures accurate information is posted on daily time sheets for all work.
Reviews metrics and meets performance expectations. Provides input and assessment on hiring, evaluations, and promotions. Ensures employees complete all training and meet assigned goals.
Other duties as assigned. Employee is considered ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL for all emergency-related events and agrees to fulfill the responsibilities associated.
Education- Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Preferred:
Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
- Required:
Five years experience in one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience. - Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
- Preferred:
Ability to work within the Microsoft Windows environment and experience working within a CMMS environment.
- Preferred: TDL – Texas Driver's License Valid Class A, B or C;
Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles. Upon Hire - Preferred:
Journeyman's license in one craft. Upon Hire
Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
