The Project Manager will act as the Contracting Entity’s representative, taking responsibility for managing a group of projects from planning and design through to successful completion and commissioning. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering the projects safely to time, to budget and to specification, ensuring the projects achieve all project goals and objectives in accordance with the Contracting Entity’s employer’s requirements and the corporate strategic intent for the portfolio.
ProgrammeRequirements, Standards & Performance
- Oversee and monitor the delivery of the project around schedule, interface, cost, variations, contract and risk, liaising with the relevant team members and functions as required
- Develop the Project Execution Plan, ensuring the project is aligned and delivered in accordance with the Contracting Entity's standards and methods
- Lead coordination of the project ensuring interfaces are considered and addressed at all stages
- Maintain the Responsible / Accountable / Consulted / Informed task tracker
- Work with technical teams in coordinating and managing the design consultants and other external service providers
- Organise design review meetings and communicate design acceptance to the Contractor
- Communicate design changes to relevant members of the project team and stakeholders who may be impacted
- Report monthly on tasks throughout the project’s lifecycle including construction works that have been undertaken
- Maintain and update the overall project risk register at monthly progress meetings
- Identify opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager
- Monitor and apply performance management techniques
- Manage the change control process
- Manage flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communications
- Review and accept programme submissions
- Lead and act in the spirit of mutual trust and co‑operation
- Communicate and issue documents as required by the ECC and perform any other duties as stated in the contract
- Carry out duties as the Project Manager as required by the Contracting Entity’s contract for the Programme, maintaining close contact with the Client to ensure the Project Manager’s actions reflect the Contracting Entity’s objectives for the project
- Manage the compensation event process to fairly compensate the Contractor for any Contracting Entity‑initiated change on the project
- Ensure the Contractor notifies compensation events in good time so that the Contracting Entity is not disadvantaged
- Assess payment after each assessment interval
- Minimum 10 years in Construction / Infrastructure sector, including relevant aviation and/or similar sized projects
- Understanding of operating in a live site; experience of operating on site, not just office based
- Tangible experience documenting best‑practice construction project management policies and standards
- Track record of delivering construction/asset delivery projects to time and within allocated budget
- Knowledge of operating as a client’s project manager
- Experience dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, influencing process improvement and guidance to support project delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to govern and drive outcomes ensuring project outputs meet required standards
- Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC suite of contracts
