Position Purpose

The Manager, Sales provides leadership, direction and support to the Sales organization within the respective business unit.

Responsible for the daily activity of Account Managers to achieve the business unit sales expectations, while ensuring the retention of existing customers and adding new customers. Ensures all Briggs Industrial Solutions standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the business unit objectives for sales and profit performance, including driving top line sales, market share and bottom line profit.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high‑performance, and ethical behavior.
  • Monitor, manage and direct supervision of Account Managers, including responsibility for selection, hiring, development, training, performance management and new hire procedures.
  • Ensure execution of monthly expectations, standards, strategies and action items, utilizing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, execution of sales opportunities and safety procedures.
  • Manage payroll, productivity and staffing in region/branch against established performance expectations and objectives.
  • Lead bench‑strength planning to achieve and maintain sales growth requirements.
  • Ensure execution of all people‑related initiatives such as training, compensation approvals, performance management process, recognition and fostering positive morale.
  • Manage and coordinate all requests received from other sales areas, branches, corporate, etc.
  • Partner with cross‑functional partners (Human Resources, Finance, Technology, etc.) to ensure assigned locations are aligned with company processes and direction.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent time‑management skills to prioritize tasks, communicate, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Strong leadership and people development skills.
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital buying process, cognitive skills, problem analysis, decision making and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to assess customer patterns and adjust labor and branch focus accordingly.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all systems, procedures, techniques, equipment, operations, standards and reports that apply to the sales process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
Previous Experience/Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience in roles with increasing responsibility preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a Sales team of 4+ Account Managers preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading in a multi‑unit work environment preferred.
  • Analytical decision making preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
